Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana retires from inernationals at age 26

Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 26. Onana, who played for Inter Milan and previously for Ajax Amsterdam, made 34 appearances for Cameroon, including starting in the African Cup of Nations in January-February, where Cameroon finished third. However, he was dropped from the Cameroon squad for the World Cup in 2002 for “indiscipline,” without further explanation, and did not specify the reasons for his sidelining in his farewell message. Cameroon was eliminated in the group phase of the World Cup despite a victory against Brazil, who had already qualified.
